Justine Harris is a skilled and experienced litigator who has the benefit of handling white-collar matters and complex civil litigation at a top New York law firm as well as hands-on courtroom and criminal trial experience gained as an assistant federal defender.

While in private practice, Ms. Harris represented individuals in sensitive proceedings before federal regulatory agencies, including the SEC and the NYSE, and worked on a variety of complex civil litigation matters. As an assistant federal defender, Ms. Harris obtained numerous jury acquittals, won pretrial motions to dismiss, and consistently achieved favorable sentencing outcomes for her clients.

Notable representations include:

  • Obtained probationary sentence for a broker charged with multiple counts of securities fraud
  • Won acquittal in a highly contested federal weapons trial
  • Obtained probationary sentence for an individual accused of structuring financial transactions
  • Successfully challenged regulatory sanctions in NASD disciplinary action, including life-time bar from securities industry, on behalf of a securities broker
  • Served on the legal team that obtained a favorable settlement in a federal civil forfeiture case involving a rare gold coin, which was ultimately sold at auction for over $8 million
  • Obtained probationary sentence for a business owner accused of bribing a public official
  • Won pre-trial dismissal of criminal immigration charges following a full evidentiary hearing
  • Won motions to suppress evidence in federal court based on constitutional violations by law enforcement
  • Won a motion to quash a grand jury subpoena in a federal criminal proceeding

From 2001 to 2010, Ms. Harris was an assistant federal defender at the Federal Defenders' office for the Eastern District of New York, where she met and worked closely with Ms. Colson. Previously, she was an associate at Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP.

Ms. Harris graduated from Columbia Law School and Harvard College.
